Medicine for the People-Pleaser

As I started to ask myself, why I people-please, I soon realised three very important things —

1 - I didn't know what my needs were and therefore couldn’t prioritise them before serving another.

2 - I had a lack of self acceptance and that lack was feeding my people-pleasing patterns.

3 - I wanted to be liked and accepted by others, because I didn’t know how to like and accept myself.

Through yoga, meditation, energy balancing work and many years of deep self reflection I have learnt how to cultivate self acceptance through my body and how to identify and prioritise my needs which has naturally dissolved my people-pleasing tendencies.

This dissolving has resulted in one of the most freeing feelings I have cultivated in my journey of self healing, so far.

In the spaces I once felt depleted, I now feel spacious and vital.

In the spaces I once felt resentful, I now feel discerning and generous.

In the spaces I once felt overwhelmed, I now feel empowered to live and serve in the ways I once longed to because I am learning to like and accept myself.

When we heal a pattern like people-pleasing, we create space to live, work and relate in a whole new way because those with a daily practice of self acceptance, do not feel the need to sacrifice their needs through people-pleasing, because they see that true acceptance comes from within.

During the Medicine for the People-Pleaser, mini retreat I am going to share some of the practices that have supported my overcoming people-pleasing, to support you in yours.
